Okay guys, for this one I have to start at the very beginning. My friend Kelsey has been using this brand for quite some time now and I've always been tempted to try it, but have never taken the plunge - until now! I decided to try the Black Magic Deep Cleansing Facial Soap, Glacial Mud Mask, Balance Facial Moisturizer, + the Makeup Brush Cleaner Shampoo. I have super sensitive skin and usually react to products no matter what the first time I try them, which makes it very hard to find any skincare I want to repurchase.

When it arrived I was pleasantly surprised by the completely recyclable packaging, and it got here so unbelievably fast! At first glance, I thought the bar of soap was packaged super cute, and the glass jars have a luxurious feel to them. The frosted glass has not only a nice weight, but it adds a simple, clean + professional look to the product. The makeup brush cleaner is in a cute plastic jar, which makes it easy to use, and keeps it from looking dirty after you use it.

First Use...

Black Magic Deep Cleansing Facial Soap

This bar is unlike any I've used before, it is a half and half soap (at least that's how I'm describing it) with one half activated charcoal, and the other Australian pink clay. I couldn't believe how well this soap lathered, and how soft and gentle it was. In two days there was a noticeable difference in my skin between the use of this bar and the balance moisturizer. By a week my skin is feeling smooth and so clean!

Glacial Mud Mask

I was completely prepared to have some redness from this one, as it is a deep cleaning mask and my skin usually has a little redness or irritation from these. I have been on the hunt for a natural mask from a Canadian business for a few years now and I am so happy I tried this one. I had no redness, it cleared up some texture on my cheeks, and left my skin feeling so refreshed! It was easy to apply, and easy to wash off. There is a surprising amount of product in this jar, so I know it will last me awhile.

Balance Moisturizer

Okay, with this one I had no clue what to expect. What caught my eye was that it is an oil control moisturizer and to be completely honest my oily self could use a little of that, but with my picky skin I never know if it will work or not. Again I am happy to say that I haven't reacted, or had the least bit of irritation from any of these products! I ordered the travel size of this one just to try it, and will definitely be ordering a full size when I run out. One thing I wasn't expecting with this was how thick it is. It's more like a butter consistency than a cream or oil like I am used to. That being said it melts into your skin soo nicely! I use a rose quartz gua sha on my face after putting on my moisturizers. My face usually needs some time, even if i use the smallest amount to not look greasy, but this moisturizer absorbed fast and nicely and I didn't feel greasy or oily at all. My face is so darn soft after using this, and I really couldn't be happier. After a week I have noticed a huge difference in how oily I get throughout the day, and it is so much better.

Makeup Brush Cleaner Shampoo

This one was so easy to use, and made cleaning my brushes super easy and fast. I ordered the small size and am so surprised by how little was used up when I cleaned the brushes. Cleaning your makeup brushes is so necessary and I feel like I will be keeping up on it way more now that I have this super simple and quick way to do it.

Lastly here are a few things I am loving about this brand. Ativo Skincare is founded by a mother daughter duo, which hello how awesome is that! It is 100% cruelty free, testing on friends not animals, vegan, and gmo + gluten free. You will not find parabens, phthalates, sodium laurel sulfates (SLS), propylene glycol triclosan, DEA, MEA & TEA in ANY of their products. I have been having trouble finding brands who don't use SLS or SLSA in their products because I react to them so much. SIDE NOTE: If you know of any brands that make SLS, SLSA, colourant free, paraben + phthalate free bath bombs please tell me because I miss using them so much!

I am happy to say that I have been 100% converted to Ativo Skincare for my skincare routine, I will be repurchasing all of the products I ordered, and I just placed an order for the Glacial Gel Overnight Mask so watch out for my review on that because I am super excited to try it.
